Russia’s outbound tourism falls 30-35% in New Year holidays
MOSCOW, Jan 12 (PRIME) -- Russia’s outbound tourism decreased 30-35% on the year during the New Year and Orthodox Christmas holidays, Maya Lomidze, executive director of the Association of Tour Operators, said at a news conference on Tuesday.
“In spite of some revival in some tour destinations, outbound tourism fell by about 30–35% on the year on average in all segments during the New Year holidays,” she said, adding that for the first time in the history of the Russian tourism there were no tours to Egypt, which used to be the top tourist destination.
Major destinations of outbound tourism included the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Thailand, Vietnam and Goa, Lomidze said.
